Trent-Way Genetics – The Hendrickson Family

Established in 2011, Trent-Way Genetics is currently milking 250 registered Holsteins alongside a heifer and herd bull operation. Here at Trent-Way, our focus is on breeding high type animals that are very functional with good production for all dairy styles from commercial, conventional, or robotics. This strategy has allowed Trent-Way to become a world-known breeder in the red and white and red carrying industry.

The biggest decision that has influenced our herds’ performance was to focus on two categories: 1. High TPI Red or RC animals; 2. Extreme type. We only focus on our top 10 percent and use these animals as donors and utilizing the rest of the herd as recipients. Our main goal is to make an animal that has great production, high health traits, and balanced in type. By selecting these traits, we have noticed huge gains in milk production not only in volume but also in fat and protein pounds. Our true passion is extreme type and high scoring cows, making each generation better. Nothing gets us more excited than to calve in a flashy young cow that is big framed, wide in the rump, deep open rib, with a smashing good udder, walking on a clean ideal foot and leg! Our goals aren’t exactly to make show animals but to make excellent cows. With excellent cows, show animals will come. This focus has allowed us to be more versatile in marketing our genetics, opened doors to foreign interest to bulls and embryo sales, and continues to bring in visitors worldwide.

December 2021 will mark 10 years in the business! we could not be more excited with the opportunities we have available. With two toddlers along with my wife we are going to make sure we can bring our farm to you taking pictures and videos of our elite animals and sharing them to all of you! We look forward to putting aside this epidemic and bringing Trent-Way Genetics to you World Wide!
